Today is my birthday. We are making strides in earth science, people are waking up and we are working together to create a safe world for each other.
I am writing this post while the website is still under construction. I didn't like the idea of having a blog, but seeing that one of my main passions in life is organizing and documentation (my background is documentary editing), a blog seemed like an excellent way to keep track of my progress.
After living in Paris, I realized how little I thought about waste and it shocked me. While in France, I learned about the difference in food, products and french systems that made me realize how toxic my own country was. I felt ashamed, and it changed me for the better.
I had always loved vintage and thrift stores so I thought I was doing my part, but there was so much I was missing.
Another one of my passions is clothing. I love when someone has unique style. I love that we express ourselves with patterns and shapes and fabrics to tell a story about our lives. It is one of the things that has always brought me joy, but the fast fashion industry has started to kill humanity in more ways than one.
Story telling, nature, documentation, fashion, and ethics. Those are my passions. Oh, and organizing. I really LOVE to organize.
I worked for a non-profit for 5 years, and I realized that the best people were asking for scraps to do the best work. It made me angry that corporations could poison people with no consequence. The system was backwards, and we need to take back the power with our dollars.
I am a passionate person. I am an idyllic person. I am an organized person.
With Gaspillage, I am combining all my favorite things into one company that cares. Building local business and strengthening the middle class, bringing back paying artists for their craft, slowing down life so we work to live, not the other way around. I believe in a better world for everyone, a world where we slow down, enjoy life, where our food and clothing doesn't make us sick.
We use story telling to relay transparency (Check out our YouTube) and to keep you informed.
We use fabrics and companies that have a zero waste, earth and body first mindset, made by incredible eco conscious designers and brands. Your dollar makes a positive impact on the earth, brings back authentic and local style, builds communities and artists up and literally raises your vibration by wearing it (See our Natural Fiber Guide) all while still being able to by something beautiful.
We use this blog to document big steps in our mission, and is a personal diary into the founder's journey to a fully sustainable life, so we can all create a fully cyclical world.
We use fashion to connect us together, remembering that individual expression just brings us closer together. We choose people over technology, human connection over wifi connection and quality over convenience.
Our organization makes it easy to create a toxin free, regenerative world and use an all-humans-matter-equally type of ethics.
Sign up for our email list if you'd like to stay up to date on the Gaspillage blog, YouTube or founders follow to see BTS of the brands we worth with, interviews with designers, good nature news and promotions.
